Nightingale – Sarah Deco

6th October, 2023 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Nightingale tells the story of the migration of a Nightingale from sub-saharan Africa to southern England. The nightingale, inspiration for so many poems and stories and is now endangered in Britain.

Alongside the actual story of the nightingale’s life and winding through it, runs another – The Bulbul A-Siah or The Nightingale That Speaks – a traditional Arabic  tale about miraculous reversals of fortune.

Sarah Deco is a storyteller from London who has recently settled close to Stroud Gloucestershire.  She worked in the NHS in mental health for many years. She is an active member of The Climate Psychology Alliance, and is interested in how story can help us bring about ecological awareness.

“Sarah’s stories always take me to an enchanted place where there is a sparkling, misty aura, a place where hope and innocence is the right and only answer, a place that I long for. I think the world needs this place and Sarah’s voice, which reassures me that it exists.”     Inger Lodberg, storyteller.
