This was a long overdue return to a Bit Crack Friday evening session. It was lovely to return to a friendly welcome. New and old listeners are always given such a warm welcome. The evening was a real treat.
Amy Douglas recounted how she met the legendary Scottish storyteller, Duncan Williamson, as a young woman. Duncan was a traveller and for many he was the true custodian of the oral tradition.
Amy delivered a lovely evening where she weaved stories she had learned from Duncan, especially enchanting Jack stories, with her anecdotes of spending time with Duncan on the road.
Having met Duncan a few times, and put him up whilst he visited a local festival, in the late 1980s, this captured the very essence of Duncan. A glass of his favourite Special Brew was raised at the end of very warm and enjoyable evening.
