A Bit Crack have been hosting storytelling evenings for adult audiences in Newcastle since 1990. Although the evenings are relaxed they have provided fertile ground for some stunning storytelling experiences enabling audiences to celebrate oral traditions from around the world.

We are proud of our longevity and of creating a space to welcome professional and emerging Storytellers and thus encouraging new talent. Over the years we have been supported by Arts Council England which has helped us to bring tellers from all over England as well as Sweden, Australia, New Zealand, Egypt, Scotland, Ireland and Wales.

This archive provides you with a selection of past events.

Cracking On Sessions: 1990 – 2000
Monthly open floor storytelling sessions. These evenings would happen at people’s homes, sometimes A Bit Crack storytellers’ and sometimes audience member’s. Stories were always shared over some food and with a drink.
