Workshop: Self and Other, Using Stories to Work with Migrant Peoples

3rd May, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

In this workshop participants will explore, in a practical way, how stories and storytelling can be used in work with migrant peoples, whether it is asylum-seekers, refugees or long-term migrants. In particular, we will look at how storytelling can be used as a vehicle to help people relate to one another, themselves and the world around them – as a source of reflection and exploration of identity. We will also look at how it is possible to communicate with story, when the language of the storyteller is not the same as the language of the listener.
We will be working with gentle movement, play, reflective exercises and some work in nature during the workshop.
This workshop is for those who work with migrants.
You do not need to have any experience of storytelling; just a love of stories!
The workshop is led by the highly experienced practitioner
Gauri Raje, who is of a migrant background herself.
Cost: £15 to £30 (according to means)
