Chris Adriaanse presents The Castle of Truth

September 4 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
£8

Amid social unrest, Hermynia Zur Mühlen published her political fairy tale The Castle of Truth in 1924 about a woman drawn by a light to a mountain top and forced to re-examine her life. Revolutionary at the time, the work later fell into obscurity.

So what is the Castle of Truth? And what secrets does it hold? Join us an evening of intertwined stories set to enchant and enthral as we step inside to find out.

This is a journey into the castle depths to find the lies within and storytelling that has been described as “Magical,  “Immersive” and “Better than Netflix”.

The Castle of Truth shines its light on us all, where there are no simple answers.

Chris Adriaanse is a storyteller working in the oral tradition where each telling begins afresh each time. He has been telling stories for nearly 10 years after starting life as a scientist.

He has held several residences across the North East, including as Storyteller-in-Residence for Gateshead Libraries centenary, Summer Storyteller at The Word in South Sheilds and as Artist-in-Residence at Hatfield College, Durham University.

This year he can often be found in the Great Hall at Ad Gefrin Distillery and Museumin Wooler telling Northumbrian tales.
